The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to submit a no-confidence motion against State Minister of Defence, retired Major General Aruna Jayasekara.
Colombo District MP Mujibur Rahuman had said to Lankadeepa newspaper that the motion will be handed over to the Speaker tomorrow (11).
Jayasekara served as the Eastern Province Commander of the Army at the time of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Rahuman, speaking in Parliament recently, pointed out that holding the position of State Minister of Defence while investigations into the attacks are ongoing could potentially hinder the probe.
