The Colombo Trial-at-Bar is scheduled to deliver its verdict today (31) in the case filed against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara over their alleged failure to prevent the 2019 Easter Sunday terrorist attacks despite receiving prior intelligence warnings.

The Attorney General filed the case, accusing the two former top officials of criminal dereliction of duty and other related offences for allegedly failing to take necessary action to avert the attacks.

The trial concluded recently, and the three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court is set to announce its judgment today.
