Three people, including two prison officers, were killed during the unrest at the Negombo Prison today (6), according to the Director of the Negombo Hospital.
The hospital director said that around 35 injured individuals had been admitted for treatment following the incident. The fatalities included two prison officers and one inmate.
The disturbance erupted inside the prison earlier in the day, prompting authorities to deploy the Police Special Task Force (STF) to bring the situation under control.
