Several senior Cabinet Ministers and Parliamentarians were not present in Parliament when the vote on the Strategic Development Act was taken.
Members representing constituent parties of the government such as the JHU, JNP and SLMC skipped the vote at the eleventh hour. Athuraliye Rathana Thera, Parliamentarian representing JHU, voted against the regulation along with the Parliamentarians of the opposition.
