Anti-Muslim Principal Of Janadipathi BV Collects Legal Fees From Students

Janadipathi Balika Vidyalaya Principal Nayana Thakshila Perera who is at the centre of a Supreme Court Fundamental Rights petition, during a special meeting convened at the school this morning had allegedly requested students of grade 7 to pay, 500 Rupees each for her legal fees.

The Asian Mirror learns that Perera had requested the students to pay the money, in contravention of successive circulars by the Education MInistry prohibiting the collection of money from students for any purpose.

Further as a government servant, the Principal is entitled to representation from the Attorney Generals department. Therefore the motive or purpose of the collection of funds, nor the contents of the said meeting remains unclear.

When contacted by the Asian Mirror, Perera declined to comment stating that since a court action is pending she does not want to comment on the matter.

Earlier, Perera was accused of punishing two Muslim students who had come to school in traditional punjabi attire as permitted by the Education Ministry and subsequent Supreme Court orders.

The case is to be taken up on April 29th.
