Capital Maharaja Organization, one of the largest business entities in the country, turned one of its important internal events - The Executive of the Year Award Ceremony - into an event of national importance with President Mahinda Rakapaksa taking part as the Chief Guest of the ceremony to present the coveted award to the best performing executive of the company.
A number of Parliamentarians, business leaders, distinguished guests and members of the senior management of the company participant in the event which was held at the Founder’s Block of Stein Studios in Ratmalana - the state of the art studio complex belonging of the MTV/ MBC Media Network.
The highlight of the event was not Riyas Deen Shajahan, Channel Head of Yes FM, receiving the award for Executive of the Year from President Mahinda Rajapaksa, but several newspapers carrying pictures of Capital Maharaja Chairman Rajendran Rajamahendran, taken at the event.
This was probably the first time he appeared before press photographers at a public event. The controversial businessman is quite famous for the recluse nature of his character and his extra ordinary ability to evade press photographers! Udesh Gunarathne of the President's Media Unit managed to capture the media tycoon's photograph - a rare achievement for any press photographer in Sri Lanka.
