UNP To Protest In Hambanthota Town Tomorrow

A group of UNP Parliamentarians and the party's elected representatives of Western and Southern Provincial Councils will stage a  protest in front of Hambanthota Police Station tomorrow morning against the inaction of Police on apprehending culprits who attacked the UNP MPs on April 17th who visited Hambanthota Port and Mattala International Airport on a fact finding mission.

A spokesman of the party told 'Asian Mirror' that the protest will be a peaceful one and a large number of party supporters will take part in it.

"The UNP MPs came under attack in Hambanthota more than two weeks ago and no action has so far been taken to apprehend the real culprits. This alone is testament to the fact that it was a state sponsored attack. That was why the UNP MPs decided to force the government to take action by holding a protest," he said.

He also stated that all members of Parliament representing the district, including MP Sajith Premadasa, has been made aware of the protest.
