Six members of the Bodu Bala Sena organization, including its General Secretary Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera - who appeared before the Fort Magistrate Court in connection with the commotion which took place at Nippon Hotel, Colombo, a few weeks ago - have been released on surety bail of Rs.100000 each.
The six members of the BBS of the Bodu Bala Sena included four Buddhist monks.
While issuing the order, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage asserted that both parties - Bodu Bala Sena and Jathika Bala Sena - should not cause religious disharmony in the country. He also stated that incidents such as the one which took place at Nippon Hotel Colombo bring Sri Lanka into disrepute in the international domain.
Before the case was taken at the Fort Magistrate Court this morning (05), the BBS staged a protest in front of the court premises against a possible arrest of Gnanasara Thera.
