Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Leader of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, today raised a question in Parliament on alleged financial misappropriations and malpractices in Sri Lanka Cricket saying recent audit reports have revealed serious issues about transparency of the institution.
The JVP Leader said the Sri Lanka Cricket had not provided support documents to auditors pertaining to transactions worth Rs. 2.2. billion that were done during the World Cup season. He also pointed out that the SLC, over the past 08 years, has not provided documents pertaining to ten funds whose value stands at Rs. 233 million.

Quoting auditors, he also stated that there are serious issues with regard to evaluation of assets belonging to Sri Lanka Cricket. He pointed out that such problems led to recent disagreements between national cricket players and the cricket administration over payment schemes.
Dissanayake asked the government whether ensuring financial discipline at Sri Lanka Cricket was not a responsibility on the part of the government. He also challenged the government to disclose the names of those who are responsible for the financial crisis faced by the country's cricket administration.
Although the Sri Lankan cricket team managed to emerge victorious at the T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) still remains as a crisis-driven, cash-strapped institution that has been largely politicized - both internally and externally.
