The Colombo High Court today issued summons on former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and former Director General of Divi Naguma Department Kingsley Ranawaka on the case regarding alleged financial fraud at Divi Naguma Department.
They were ordered to appear in court on March 10, 2016, by High Court Judge Padmini N. Ranawaka.
The Attorney General recently indicted Rajapaksa and Ranawaka at the Colombo High Court on six counts, covering alleged offenses under the Presidential Elections Act and the Penal Code.
Accordingly, they have been accused of engaging in an an act of bribery under the Presidential Elections Act, by distributing almanacs with the image of the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
They are also accused of misappropriating Rs 29 million of the Divi Naguma fund.
