Police Use Water Canons On Frontline Socialist Party Protest

Police have fired water cannons at a protest organized by the Frontline Socialist Party.

The protest has been launched at Technical Junction, Maradana today.

Protest has been staged to demand political rights for the party leader Premakumar Gunaratnam and to ensure his democracy.   

Police had fired water cannons when the protesters have attempted to move towards to President Secretariat passing the police barricades.

Premakumar Gunaratnam, who was currently an Australian citizen, was arrested by Kegalle police for violating immigration and emigration rights, in 4th November 2015. He has been in remand custody since the day he was arrested.
