New Zealand Prime Minister To Visit Sri Lanka Next Week

February 17, 2016

New zealand Prime Minister John Key will make an official visit to Sri Lanka next week to highlight the growing commercial and political ties between the two countries.

Key will meet Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

He'll also promote New Zealand's business interests during meetings with local business people.

Trade with Sri Lanka was worth $324 million last year and Key will lead a business delegation that will be looking for opportunities.

"Sri Lanka has a growing middle class which offers New Zealand businesses a range of exciting opportunities," Key said.

"We have a 45-year dairy trade history but commercial relationships are extending further."

Key will be in Sri Lanka from February 24 to 26.
