Nearly two days after clashes occurred in Aluthgama, Beruwala and Dharga Town, Police have arrested 07 people in connection with the incident which claimed at least six lives while injuring many.
According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana, seven people have been arrested and they are being questioned over the incident. However, the Police Media Spokesman refused to disclose where they were Sinhalese or Muslims.
The police sources told Asian Mirror that there are a few Muslims among those who have been arrested.
Police said the arrests were made after observing video footage of Aluthgama, Beruwala and Dharga town clashes. It also added that the CID and the state intelligence authorities were conducting further inquiries.
The Police Media Spokesman did not say whether the BBS members were among those who have been arrested by Police.
Police came under severe criticism from many sections of the society for not taking timely action to arrest those who were involved in the clash.
