Saleem Marsoof Takes Oath As Acting CJ

Justice Saleem Marsoof has been appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the acting Chief Justice of Sri Lanka.

The appointment has been made as Chief Justice Mohan Peiris is presently abroad.

In his provocative speech in Aluthgama last Sunday, BBS General Secretary Galagodatahthe Gnanasara Thera criticized the President's decision to appoint a "Muslim man" as the Minister of Justice.

In the recent past, Justice Shirani Thilakawardena took oaths as the Acting Chief Justice of the country on several occasions when Chief Justice Mohan Pieris was abroad. Saleem Marsoof has also taken oaths as the Acting Chief Justice before.
