Facebook has removed pages of General Secretary of Bodu Bala Sena Galagodatthe Gnanasara Thero and Bodu Bala Sena.

 

'Facebook' obviously was a major propaganda tool for the extremist Buddhist organization and its General Secretary Gnanasara Thera.

 

Facebook has decided to remove these two particular pages,after many facebook users have made written complaints about hate speech campaign that was being carried out on pages of Bodu Bala Sena and Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera.

 

However, there are numerous Facebook pages that operate under different names, supporting ethnic and religious extremism in Sri Lanka. Bodu Bala Sena too, Asian Mirror, learns has several Facebook profiles apart from their main page that has been banned.

 

Just like the Bodu Bala Sena page, there are several Facebook pages belonging to extremist Muslim groups who also carry out hate speech campaigns against other races and religions.
