Muslim civil society organizations have strictly instructed Muslims to refrain from engaging in any activity that would disrupt peace and harmony in the country.
They have made this announcement ahead of Friday prayers where Muslim gather in mosques across the country for their Jumma prayers and religious activities.
The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka has urged all Muslims to go home peacefully after prayers.
A member of the Muslim Council of Sri Lanka told Asian Mirror that the message has also been spread via social media and SMS.
Security has been strengthened in many areas across the country on Friday to avoid all potential flash-points between Sinhala-Buddhist groups and Muslims.
No incident has so far been reported on Friday.
