Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said new Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy has to build back the Central Bank's lost credibility.
"Indrajit has to urgently build back lost credibility at #CBSL. He is a time tested professional and I am certain he will succeed," de Silva said, in a Twitter post, today.
The Deputy Foreign Minister's remark can also be construed as a veiled attack on former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran who found himself in hot water in connection with multiple controversies.
Dr. de Silva came under fire from the Prime Minister's camp in the recent past for his alleged association with a private media station that launched a scathing attack on the government over the alleged treasury bonds scam.
His Twitter post indicates that there is a tension of sorts between the Deputy Foreign Minister and the former Central Bank Governor, a close ally of the Prime Minister.
