The Minister had made the statement this morning at the office of the Elections Commissioner when general secretaries of poliitical parties were summoned for a meeting. The JVP raised a question at the meeting saying the 'anti-Geneva' protest, which is to march from Hambanthota to Colombo towards the end of this month, would amount to a violation of election laws.
In response, Minister Premjayantha had said he was unaware of any such development.
" Although I am the General Secretary of the UPFA, i am not aware of anything! Various people do various things, hiding behind the name-board of the UPFA. I will crtainly look into that and take necessary measures," the UPFA General Secetary had said.
Meanwhile, the Elections Commissioner has raised serious concerns over the incident where Minister Gamini Lokuge had chased away several officials of the Elections Department in Kesbewa who went to investigate into an election law violation.
