Khuram Shaikh Case: Accused Guilty! 20 Yr Rig. Imprisonment

Colombo High Court judge Rohini Walgama delivered Khuram Shaikh case verdict imposing maximum of 20 years rigorous imprisonment for 4 of the accused. Two others have been released

Former Tangalle PS Chairman Sampath Chandrapushpa Vidanapathirana and five other accused Lahiru Kelum, Saman Deshapriya, M. Sarath alias Sahan, and S.Prageeth Chaturanga, had been indicted by the Attorney General for murdering Khuram Shaikh and gang raping his girlfriend Victoria at the Tangalle Nature Resort on December 25, 2011.

Lahiru Kelum, Saman Deshapriya and Prageeth Chathuranga were sentenced along with the Tangalle PS Chairman. Mohottige Sarath and Chanaka Chathuranga were released by the court.

They were also ordered to pay Rs. 200000 each to the Russian woman as compensation.
