Foreign Ministry Expresses Shock And Sadness Over MH 17 Crash

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its profound shock and sadness over the news of the crash of the Malaysian Airlines Flight MH 17 in Eastern Ukraine, which resulted in the tragic loss of many innocent lives, including those of infants.  

“The Government together with the people of Sri Lanka conveyheartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of the passengers and the crew who were onboard the flight, and express solidarity with those nations whose citizens perished in this appalling incident. The thoughts and prayers of the people of Sri Lanka are with the families of the victims,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday night.

“In this hour of grief, the Government and people of Sri Lanka wish that the bereaved family members findthe courage and fortitude to come to terms with the irreplaceable loss,” the statement also said.

 

It was now been  confirmed that no Sri Lankan passport holders were in the crashed flight.
