D. Pandian, State Secretary of Communist Party of India on Sunday urged the Central Government to exert influence on Sri Lanka to safeguard the well being of Tamils in the island nation.
Pandian claims that there are active human rights violations going on in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. He has made a statement to Indian media demanding the Indian government to take action regarding the invasion of Tamil lands of Northern Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan military.
“The Indian Government must refrain from training Sri Lankan defense personnel anywhere in the country”, he said.
He continued lashing out at the Indian Government saying that they should actively engage in matters regarding Sri Lankan Tamils.
The State Secretary continued accusing the Sri Lankan government of neglecting the basic rights of the people of the North and demanded the government to handover the lands back to their original residents.
Pandiyan made these statesments on the final day of the party's four-day State-level meeting at Sathyamangalam.
