38 Indian Fishermen Apprehended By Sri Lankan Navy

Reports coming in live from the Sri Lankan Navy states that thirty-eight Indian fishermen have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel yesterday.

All the fishermen are from villages in Rameswaram and Pudukottai apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy.

Along with the fishermen nine boats belonging to them have also been seized.

The fishermen have been arrested with the offense of fishing in Sri Lankan waters.

The Sri Lankan navy is yet to make a comment on this matter and reliable sources told Asian Mirror that the apprehended fishermen are being held in a secure location by the Sri Lankan navy. A statement regarding their release is yet to be made by the government.

Last month, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa urged the Central government to secure the release of Indian fishermen from Sri Lankan jails.
