A Lieutenant attached to the Sri Lankan Army has been hospitalized after being assaulted by a Brigadier inside the Army camp in Palali.
The Brigadier has reportedly struck the Lieutenant with a metal chair when the brawl took a violent turn. The Lieutenant was rushed to the Army hospital in Palali soon after the incident and the hospital sources said his condition was not critical.
The reason behind the brawl between the two Army officers was not entirely clear.
However when contacted by Media, Army media spokesperson Ruwan Wanigasuriya had denied the incident saying no such clash had taken place inside the Palali camp.
“The Lieutenant has shown up late to a workshop without the proper uniform, so the Brigadier had warned him sternly regarding the mistake. There was no argument or a clash,” the Army spokesman had told a vernacular newspaper today.
