Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana has stated that the Police is ready to start investigations on any information on drug smugglers which Western Provincial Council Member Hirunika Premachandra could report.

He made these comments on a recent statement by Hirunika Premachandra where she claimed to know the names of people involved in drug smuggling in Colombo area.

SSP Ajith Rohana also mentioned that the Police was bound to protect the identity of any informant and if the information was true, would arrest anyone implicated, irrespective of the social status of the said persons.

A few days ago, Hirunika Premachandra said that “People who murdered my father, Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, are also involved in this. I have evidence on who is dealing in drugs in Kolonnawa. I have the names and addresses. We have evidence on where they get their drugs from and we also know who they are connected to.”

She also had stated that “If we have these details then the police should most definitely have the same information too.”
