Political sources told Asian Mirror that a faction from the United People’s Freedom Alliance has formed a new party with the name “First Front”.
Sources told Asian that a prominent figure of the Sri Lankan parliament will be in the driving seat of the party. Another large faction of the ruling party is to accompany him when forming this alliance.

Governor of Panadura Nandana Gunathilake and Parliamentarian Achala Jagoda are said to be the main member of the initial motion.
Sources told Asian Mirror that the party will be functioning in secrecy and that they have already taken steps to liberate the isolated members who have left their original parties.
The party will function as a mass movement that focuses on key issues faced by the people.
Speaking to Asia Mirror a spokesperson of the new party said that they would register the new political alliance with the elections department in the near future, most probably ahead of the next presidential election.
He declined to disclose the name of the candidate it would support at the presidential polls.
