Sri Lanka will be hosting the next International Conference of Asian Political Parties General Assembly from September 18th to 21st 2014, under the theme "Building an Asian Community.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, met with officials to discuss arrangements for the next meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties at temple trees yesterday.
The conference is officially to be hosted by the SLFP and the UNP.
Approximately 100 different political parties from throughout Asia are expected to attend the high-level conference.
So far, participants from 33 countries have confirmed participation at the meeting, which will bring together numerous political parties from throughout the Asian region.
ICAPP was launched in Manila in September 2000 to promote exchanges and cooperation between political parties from different Asian countries and with various ideologies. The first General Assembly was held in September 2000, with the participation of 46 political parties from 22 countries in Asia.
The conference aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between political parties from different countries in the area and with various ideologies in order to enhance mutual understanding and trust among Asian countries. Overall, 364 parties in 53 countries in the region are eligible to take part in ICAPP activities.
