Bond Commission Orders Special Security For Perpetual Treasuries Chief Dealer Nuwan Salgado

September 06, 2017

Taking into consideration a request made by the Attorney General’s Department, the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating the Treasury bond issue ordered special security for Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) Chief Dealer Nuwan Salgado.

Salgado is considered a ‘whistleblower’ after he confided to the PCoI that PTL CEO Kasun Palisena had asked him to delete telephone conversations that ‘could be considered harmful to PTL’.

Salgado had complied by asking PTL IT executive Sachith Devatanthri to delete several of the phone recordings.

In his statement before the Commission this morning, Salgado said he feared for the safety of his life and his family.

The deleted telephone conversations that were extracted today revealed that former PTL Director Arjun Aloysius had communicated inside information to PTL CEO Kasun Palisena.

Former PTL Director Arjun Aloysius is the son-in-law of former Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran who is accused of insider trading in the Treasury Bond scam of 2015.
