Sri Lanka Cricket sunk to its lowest ranking in recent times today, when it plummeted to the 9th place in the latest ICC ranking. 

Even Afghanistan - a country that achieved the Test status recently - has been ranked above Sri Lanka in the T20 format. 

Afghanistan has been ranked eighth on the scale, a notch above Sri Lanka. 

Sri Lanka was ranked the world's best T20 team during the period between 2012 and 2014. The country emerged champions of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2014. 

Pakistan is currently the number 01 T20 team in the world according to the latest ICC rankings.
