UNP To Get New Office Bearers: CEO And More Asst. Leaders To Be Appointed Based On Reform Committee Report

Several new positions will be introduced to the United National Party as part of its internal reforms programme, a senior UNP lawmaker said.

"Under this programme, the UNP will get a Chief Executive Officer and a few more Assistant Leader," he said.

The Chief Executive Officer will be in charge of the administrative affairs of the party and address grievances faced by the party rank and file.

The new appointments would be made based on the recommendations of the committee headed by State Minister Ruwan Wijewardena.

As Wijewardena has refused to accept the Deputy General Secretary post, a new candidate will also be appointed to that position.

Addressing the party's May Day event at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium yesterday, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe also said more leadership positions would be created in the near future to strengthen the party.
