President Sirisena Now Says He Wants To "Correct" Problematic Areas Of 19th Amendment

December 06, 2018

President Maithripala Sirisena issued a statement this evening saying he would take necessary measures to "correct" questionable areas of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

The statement soon after the Supreme Court postponed the hearing of the petitions against the dissolution of Parliament until tomorrow.

However, the same statement said the 19th Amendment was passed in Parliament, in 2015, due to the relentless courage and unwavering commitment shown by Sirisena.

it also says that the 19th Amendment established the independent commissions and strengthened institutions performing important functions.
