Steps to control Covid-19 in Sri Lanka ‘very successful’ – World Bank

The World Bank's South Asia Regional Director, Faris Haddad Servos, said that the control of the Covid - 19 virus currently underway in Sri Lanka was "very successful" and that the World Bank would extend all necessary assistance to that end.

He made these revelations during a discussion with the Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the Ministry of Health today (27).

The Sri Lankan Director General of the World Bank also said that the measures taken by the Sri Lankan health sector to control the Covid-19 virus are particularly successful compared to other countries in the world.

The Minister of Health Pavithra Wanniarachchi said that she appreciated the support extended by the World Bank with the commencement of the spread of the corona virus in Sri Lanka. As the Minister of Health, I would like to express my gratitude to the World Bank for its support to the primary health care program in Sri Lanka.

Mrs. Chiyo Kanda, Resident Manager, World Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Deepika Artigala, Senior Specialist in Public Health Services, World Bank Project, Major General Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Health and a number of Ministry officials were present on this occasion.
