ACJU General Secretary Carries Several Parcels Of Watalappan Into Presidential Commission Probing Easter Sunday Attacks

Rizvi Mufti, the chairman of the All Ceylon Jayamiyathul Ulama (ACJU), who appeared before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter attack yesterday (10), has taken several parcels of food into the commission.

Later investigations have revealed that the parcels contained Watalappan.

However, some initially raised concerns over the ACJU General Secretary carrying parcels into the commission premises, as, on an earlier occasion, an acting secretary of the organization had secretly recorded the testimony given by Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera on a mobile phone.

It was the journalists gathered at the premises who first observed that the ACJU General Secretary carrying several externally covered parcels into the commission.

When inquired about this from the police officers who were on duty in front of the Commission, they said that the parcels were inspected and it was observed that they contained watalappan. When asked what it was being taken for, he had said it was for the Commission officials.

Police further stated that they did not object to the parcel being taken away as some counsels usually carry food on other days as well. Police said an employee of the commission also came and assisted in taking the parcels inside.
