Champika Ranawaka Quits JHU To Form "New Political Force": Appoints His Own Allies To Top JHU Positions

Former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka has resigned from his positions in the Jathika Hela Urumaya.

Ranawaka functioned as the leader and the General Secretary of the JHU. Commenting on this decision on his Facebook page, Ranawaka said he quit the JHU to form a new political and social force.

It is rumoured among political circles that Ranawaka will obtain membership with the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, led by Sajith Premadasa. Ranawaka is expected to receive a leadership position in the SJB.

Meanwhile, Ven.Hadigalle Wimalasara Thera and Bandula Chandraekera have been appointed new Chairman and the General Secretary of the JHU.

Both of them are known to be close allies of Ranawaka.
