The son of Samagi Jana Balawegaya Hambantota District Parliamentarian Dilip Wedaarachchi has been arrested by the Maharagama Police on suspicion of assaulting a person following an argument over a car accident.

The suspect was traveling on the High-Level Road, Maharagama when his car collided with another car. An an argument between the two parties over the collision had escalated and the suspect had assaulted a person traveling in the other car.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim, police said.

The car in which the MP's son was traveling was slightly damaged in the accident and the MP's son is to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court, police said.
