"I Ordered Removal Of Sumanthiran's STF Security: Legal Action Underway Against Leaders Of P2P Protest": Sarath Weerasekera

Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera said measures would be taken to take legal action and confiscate the properties of those who organised the "P2P" protest in the Northern province.

"We did not want to disperse the protest using force. We have the video footage and we have clearly identified those who were at the forefront of it. We will pursue legal action against them for violating the law," Weerasekera added.

The Public Security Minister, a confidante of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, made this remarks while apparing on a TV show in a private TV station.

The TNA MPs and a number of activists joined the recently-held "P2P" protest march which highlighted several key issued faced by people in the North.

"I odrdered the removal of MP Sumanthiran's STF security. Obviosuly, he cannot engage in a protest march of this nature, if he is facing threats from the LTTE," Weerasekera added.
