Two Tamil Nadu volleyball players, V. Hariharan and L. Manoj, who were asked by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) to come back midway from the Asian youth volleyball championship in Colombo, returned to the city on Friday.
The players, apparently, then left for their hometowns to avoid the media glare.
Considering the Tamil Nadu government’s stand on the Sri Lankan issue, it is indeed surprising that the two players were sent to the island nation.
The Tamil Nadu State Volleyball Association (TNSVA) office at the Nehru stadium has been sealed since Wednesday night. Nagarajan and Antony, the manager and coach at the SDAT-Hostel here, where the players stay, have since been suspended.
A.K. Chitrapandian, Secretary, TNSVA, has written a letter to the government authorities (SDAT & Chief Minister) requesting them to open the association office.
