Devi Balika Vidyalaya Principal Padeepa Samarasinghe said there was no truth in reports that the school would be relocated.

"It is understandable that the students of the school, past-pupils, teachers and other well-wishers are alarmed by such reports. I state with responsibility that the school will not be relocated. I make this statement with permission from the Secretary to the Ministry of Education. There is no plan to relocate the school now or in the future," she said.

However, there were reports that some classes of the school would be taken to another school in Nugegoda in order to enhance the "capacity"

Past pupils of the students have now formed a collective to ensure that the school is not shifted from its current premises in Colombo 08.
