SLPP Predicts Major Rift In Opposition Upon RW's Entry: Raises Questions Over Opposition Leader's Position

The SLPP said there would be a shift in the opposition's centre of gravity in Parliament when former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe enters Parliament.

Speaking in Parliament, Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said at least 15 MPs representing the Samagi Jana Balawegaya would join forces with the former Prime Minister.

He then raised a question as to who would be made the opposition leader in Parliament.

Aluthgamage said MPs Patali Champika Ranawaka and Harin Fernando are among those who have held discussions with the former Prime Minister.

However, the SJB parliamentary group has already passed a resolution unanimously pledging their support to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
