Former JVP Parliamentarians Namal Karunaratne and Samantha Vidyaratne have been arrested by the Police.

Both Karunaratne and Vidyaratne have been arrested for organising a protest in the Boralanada area.

They mobilized the masses against a number of burning issues concerning the farming community including the fertiliser shortage.

The two opposition politicians have been arrested for violating health regulations.

The police yesterday issued a special announcement prohibiting gatherings and public protests until further notice.
