COVID19 Clusters Emerging From Five Districts As Both Govt. And The Opposition Continue To Gather Crowds

Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services, told the media that there was a risk of re-emergence of COVID19 clusters of in five districts.

Therefore, the Director General of Health Services urged the public to refrain from unnecessary travel, including excursions this weekend.

“We have observed a tendency for COVID19 clusters to form in Anuradhapura, Ampara, Hambantota, Matara and Galle districts. In many places, public gatherings are reported at festivals, weddings, and religious activities. Under such conditions the formation of COVID19 clusters cannot be prevented," he said.

Despite such warnings by the health authorties, the government and the opposition continue to conduct public events with large crowds.
