New Guidelines Gazetted For Appointment Of President's Counsel: Not More Than 10 Appointments Per Year

A new gazette notification has been issued containing guidelines for the appointment of President's Counsel.

Secretary to the President PB Jayasundera has issued 14 new guidelines in a special gazette notification approved by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in accordance with the powers vested in the President under the Constitution.

The guidelines on the appointment of President's Counsel, published in a special gazette on October 29, 2019, have been revoked.

According to the new guidelines, the appointment of President's Counsel is limited to a maximum of one group per year and the number of President's Counsel appointed per year should not exceed 10.
