Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja has acquitted former Western Province Governor Azad Sally of all charges of making a statement that could lead to ethnic disunity at a press conference.

The judge stated that the charges against the defendant could not be proved beyond a reasonable doubt by the prosecution.

The suspect was remanded for nearly nine months in connection with the statement made by the accused at a press conference on March 8.
