Special Cabinet Meeting Due Today To Discuss Sri Lanka's Fuel Crisis And Possible Price Increase

February 22, 2022

A special cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held today (22) to discuss the current energy crisis in the country.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting held yesterday (21) afternoon, a senior government minister said.

The power crisis and the fuel crisis in the country will be discussed at length.

It is reported that the supply of fuel has become a problem due to the shortage of dollars in the country and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has been incurring heavy losses due to the supply of fuel at prevailing prices.

Due to this the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has suggested to the government that the fuel price should be increased immediately and it is said that the government has not taken any decision regarding the price increase.

The relevant prices will also be discussed at the special Cabinet meeting to be held today.
