Transport Minister Dilum Amunugama said that the Cabinet had approved the revision of train fares yesterday (14) and that the train fares would be revised accordingly in the future.

The Minister also said that the Railway Department will not be able to cover the cost of fuel unless the train fares are increased due to the increase in fuel prices.

The Minister made this observation addressing a media briefing held today (15).
