Central Bank Says Banking Sector Stable And Operations Carried Out Smoothly: Denies Claims Alluding To Default

The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka stated that the banking sector of Sri Lanka was stable and operations are being carried out smoothly.

"The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka wish to assure the public and all other stake holders that the banking system is stable, and that the operations of the State Banks are being carried out smoothly, contrary to statements made otherwise," the CBSL tweeted a short while ago.

This statement came after SJB MP Harsha De Silva claimed that he had received unverified information to the effect that one of the state banks in Sri Lanka was facing a default.
