SJB MPs are currently staging a protest on the way towards Independence square, despite the curfew imposed by the government last night.

However, the police have put up barricades to block their path.

The MPs said the curfew was imposed and social media was banned mainly to protect the Rajapaksa family.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa was seen leading the protest.
