The health authorities are warning the public of the increasing spread of a virus in Sri Lanka. Deputy Director General of Health Services, Dr Hamantha Herath said that the virus has symptoms similar to influenza.

He said the virus consists of symptoms such as phlegm, cough and fever, it can spread fast from person to person. However, he said it is not dangerous as Covid 19.

He urged the public to consult a doctor if the symptoms are severe.
