The committee appointed by Minister of Sports, Roshan Ranasinghe to probe into the incidents at the ICC T20 World Cup in relation to the Sri Lankan cricket team has recorded a statement from controversial Christian pastor and self-proclaimed prophet Jerome Fernando this week. The statement had been recorded by the committee for over two hours.

The five-member committee led by retired Supreme Court Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena was appointed to investigate incidents that took place during the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia last November.

Fernando had claimed he had foreseen Sri Lanka’s win at the world cup and his influence on certain cricketers has also given rise to concerns and accusations that the team was being controlled by a ‘Born-again’ christian group.
