Six Sabaragamuwa University Students Arrested by Samanalawewa Police for Alleged Involvement in Ragging Incident

Six students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages (FSSL) at Sabaragamuwa University have been apprehended by the Samanalawewa police on January 28th.

The arrests come in connection with their alleged involvement in the ragging of a female student, following a complaint received via the 1997 hotline.

The government had previously annouced that stern action would be taken against individuals engaging in ragging in state universities. 

According to reports, the victim, a female student whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons, endured traumatic experiences at the hands of her peers.
