Police Say Several Ex-Security Forces Personnel Implicated in Beliatta Mass Shooting; Former Military Major Missing

The shocking Beliatta mass shooting, which claimed the lives of five individuals, including Apey Janabala Party leader Saman Perera, has rocked Sri Lanka, with several ex-security forces personnel identified as major suspects in the case. The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the country, has prompted a nationwide manhunt for those responsible.

According to police sources, one of the assailants involved in the deadly attack is a former Navy personnel who had retired from service. Reports indicate that he swiftly departed for Abu Dhabi from the Katunaike International Airport in the aftermath of the shooting, complicating the ongoing investigation.

Furthermore, details have emerged regarding the rental of the SUV used in the murder, shedding light on the involvement of individuals with law enforcement backgrounds. The vehicle was obtained on rent under the name of a former Sub-Inspector who had been removed from service due to criminal conduct. This individual had previously worked in both the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) of the Police.

Adding another layer of complexity to the case, the person who drove the SUV during the shooting is revealed to be a former Major of the Sri Lanka Army. However, alarming reports indicate that this ex-Major is now missing, heightening concerns about his potential involvement and whereabouts.
